World Food Day
World Food Day was created in 1979 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and is celebrated around the world on October 16th. It is a time to raise awareness about hunger, and gives us a chance to consider ways to act to end hunger abroad as well as locally.
We hope you will join us in the movement to raise awareness and end hunger. You can help by donating much needed items at one of the following events; or better yet, make a donation and help us serve more children in need in our own community.
Music Event: Food Drive – Oct. 17, 2015
Come on out and support our favorite Celtic band, Banna. It’s free! Please consider bringing non-perishable food items to help stock our Food Pantry.
Greensboro Day School will host a basketball and soccer clinic for rising 3rd-6th grade boys on Saturday, October 17th! The clinic will focus on shooting, ball-handling, passing and more. Canned food donations will be collected for BackPack Beginnings.
Radiance Yoga will offer donation-based classes to benefit BackPack Beginnings starting Sept. 13 through the end of October.
Ten Thousand Villages will host a food drive for BackPack Beginnings, Tues. Oct 20 – Tues. Nov 3. Bring your donations of non-perishable food items and receive a 25% off one item coupon to shop.
