The morning was bright and warm as 400 children, plus their families, gathered together in downtown Greensboro for John’s Run 4 Kids to help children in need. It was inspiring to see children from knee high to 8th grade racing their hearts out with all their strength and might as they ran through buildings, crawled under nets, jumped through tires and crossed the finish line with great pride. Instead of sleeping in Saturday morning, these remarkable children woke up with a mission to give back and help children in need. They ran a one mile obstacle course and at the end of the race, even though there was music, food and bounce houses, they visited the BackPack Beginnings table to see backpacks filled with food and toys, read the children’s letters and drawings of the kids they helped…the smile on their faces were priceless. They got it! These amazing children knew they made a difference that Saturday morning. These little runners took a stand against childhood hunger, abuse and neglect as they selflessly raised money through John’s Run 4 Kids to help children in need.
We would also like to thank our sponsors: Reynolds Orthodontics, Crumley Roberts and P.O.W.E.R of Play (Proehlific Park). You helped make John’s Run 4 Kids possible. Your generosity enabled these children to experience the joy of paying it forward. BackPack Beginnings would not be able to help children in need without you. Thank you everyone! It was a wonderful race and experience.
