“GIVE BACK | PACK LUNCH” SEPTEMBER 16-20
A Community-Wide Event for Hunger Awareness Month
Benefitting BackPack Beginnings
September is National Hunger Awareness Month. Did you know that the Greensboro/High Point area ranked number 4 in the nation in the number of people that report not having enough food? Over 56% of children in Guilford County Schools have to receive free or reduced-priced meals– that is 41,000 children in Guilford County.
In recognition of Hunger Awareness Month, we have an easy way for you to help end childhood hunger right here in Guilford County. BackPack Beginnings, a local, 100% volunteer nonprofit, is launching its first annual Give Back | Pack Lunch campaign, September 16-20. The concept is simple… choose a date during September 16-20, pack your lunch instead of eating out and donate the amount saved, even just $5 – it would feed a hungry child for an entire weekend through BackPack Beginnings’ Food BackPack Program.
“Just $5 feeds a child for a weekend; $20 can feed a child every weekend for an entire month.” Says Parker White, our Founder/ Executive Director of BPB, “Give Back | Pack Lunch is an easy way for people in the community to simply pack their lunch and donate the money otherwise spent to make a direct impact on a child’s life.” Local businesses, churches, schools, community organizations, and others are encouraged to participate to help the children of Guilford County in September, Hunger Awareness Month. Businesses are welcome to match what their employees give.
This fall, BackPack Beginnings is feeding almost 1,000 children in 20 Guilford County schools each weekend during the school year. The need is great, and with your help, we can increase the amount of children fed!
