Our Comfort Programs

Comfort BackPacks

Our Comfort BackPacks offer care, comfort and basic necessities for children during traumatic situations. We provide age and gender specific backpacks full of comfort items such as blankets, stuffed animals, books, toys, socks, hygiene products, school supplies to abused/neglected, homeless, foster, and refugee children.

Personal Care Program

Our Personal Care Program provides hygiene items, including period products to local children. We know that not having food, clean clothes, or basic hygiene items obstructs children’s ability to learn and thrive. These children feel like outsiders and withdraw socially. They are expensive and buying them can shift money away from other important purchases like food and transportation. In addition, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits do not cover these products.

Book Beginnings

We feel ALL children should have access to books. With more than half of Guilford County School students starting Kindergarten without the literacy skills they need to succeed, Book Beginnings distributes tens of thousands of free books throughout our community and Family Market.  The goals of the program include book OWNERSHIP and book ABUNDANCE.

Baby Basics

Baby accessories and equipment are costly to families yet important to a baby’s health.  ZERO federal social programs address diaper needs.  We distribute diapers, wipes, developmental toys, baby accessories and baby equipment to local families.
