Meet our Events Chair, Ingrid Stum.

Ingrid is a Project Manager with Tanger Outlets. She first learned about BackPack Beginnings through her company’s volunteer program. Once a year, Tanger encourages their employees to volunteer through a program they call Stanley’s Samaritans, in recognition of their founder.

Ingrid helped pack & check backpacks with BackPack Beginnings in 2013.  Since that time, she has volunteered on weekends and each year during Stanley’s Samaritans. When the opportunity was posted for the Volunteer Events Chair, she was excited for the chance to be more involved.

Ingrid coordinated our Pieology fundraiser and SouperBowl food drive.  She is working with other companies, including the Swarm, Beerthirty and Pigtails and CrewCuts, to line up additional events. She is also helping with the Kirkwood 5K and our 100 Days of Real Food luncheon.  Please let Ingrid know if you have any ideas for events with which she can help.

Ingrid moved from the Midwest in 2000 to escape the bitter cold winters.  She earned her MBA from Wake Forest Univ. in 2003.  In 2005, she spent a year in China teaching English and Business, and then took several months to travel throughout much of Asia.

In 2012 she married her husband Darian, and her bonus daughters Izzy (14) & Cora (11). Their household also includes a furry child (dog), a Maine Coon cat, a chinchilla, and salt water fish.  In addition to volunteering with BackPack Beginnings, Ingrid is active in PEO, a nonprofit organization that supports women’s education.  She also loves reading, playing cards, and traveling.
