Thanks to the generosity of the Guilford County School System food drive, we have been able to start 2 new food pantries this month at Ragsdale and Northeast High Schools with plans to open more in August!  During Random Acts of Kindness week in February, BackPack Beginnings partnered with the Guilford County School System to fight food insecurity.  Several schools hosted food drives resulting in over 13,000 pounds of food collected… AND counting!

The additional food will help stock 12 school food pantries to serve children and their families who have been identified as food insecure by their social workers and other school staff. Our Food Pantry Program strives to reduce the negative impacts of hunger so children are ready to learn in school and succeed in life. The pantries are stocked with fresh food, canned and dry goods, proteins, fruits, vegetables, pastas and rices, breakfast foods (cereal, oatmeal, etc.) snacks, shelf stable milk, 100% fruit juice and other food items.

Thank you to the students, volunteers and administration for supporting our Food Pantry Program!
