BackPack Beginnings needs your support to raise $40,000 to help us meet the basic needs of children in our community. Food, clothing and comfort are some of the building blocks that we provide children to help them succeed in school and life. Last year, we provided basic necessities to over 6,000 children in need through our programs below, but we want to help even MORE kids.
Food BackPacks- We give hungry preschool and elementary children backpacks full of nutritious, kid-friendly food over the weekends during the school year and summer. We also supplement some of our schools with fresh food.
Food and Snack Pantries- We create and stock food pantries in schools that are filled with snacks, canned, dry and fresh foods. Our snack pantry, located in the Teacher’s Supply Warehouse, allows teachers to pick up free snacks for their kids.
Clothing Pantry– We operate a FREE clothing pantry that is open to social workers and families. We welcome donations of new and gently used clothing for ages 0-17.
Comfort BackPacks- We pack backpacks full of stuffed animals, toys, blankets, books, socks, toiletries, and school supplies to provide love and comfort to children in traumatic situations.
Personal Care Pantry– We provide personal care items such as deodorant, shampoo and laundry detergent to children struggling with hygiene issues.
Please consider donating today. Two generous donors are matching the first $13,000 raised. That means that your gift will double our efforts to meet basic needs! We are grateful for your support so we can help more local children thrive!
